Variety of Types of Belt Used in Conveyor Belts

Belt conveyors are universally used in industrial settings and in packaging and assembling units. It used to transport regular and irregular shaped items from one point to another regardless of their weight. The transmission can be in a horizontal, vertical or inclined, depending on the type of belt conveyor used. It is widely used in mining, metallurgy, chemical, construction, food, machinery, building, light industry and etc. Belt is an essential element in a conveyor belts. The efficiency of conveyor depends on the belt types. Inappropriate usage of belt type may harm the conveyor and shorten the conveyor lifespan.  

• There numerous types of belts according to carcass or cover. Type of belts according to carcass are textile belts and steel belts whereas belts according to cover included abrasion resistant belts, flame resistant belts, heat resistant belts, oil resistant belts, chemical resistant belts and etc. Selection of types of belts needed to obtain data such as nature of conveyed materials, environment of conveying, working temperature and etc. Different conditions required different type of belts. We choose appropriate type of belts for our customers after discuss with our experienced engineers. 
• Abrasion resistant belt is generally natural rubber based materials. It is recommended for conveying large lumps and abrasive material under hardworking conditions. It is resistant to high impact energy. Besides, it is not recommended for oily, acidic and alkali media but resistant to oxygen, ozone, impacts and abrasion. Abrasion resistant belt widely used in cement industry, ports, quarries, public works, electricity generation stations, sugar mills, pulp mill, coal mining, and steel works. In ports, the conveyor is used for ship loading and unloading installation while in public works are boring and tunneling earthworks. 
•  Flame resistant belt is a chloroprene rubber based with flame resistant covers. Flame resistant belts normally used in underground coal mines pit where high temperature coal needed to be transported. It maximum working temperature is 100oC. The heat resistant belt is generally EPDM based covers. It is used in conveying high temperature materials. The temperature of the material can up to 400oC while belt surface temperature can up to 200oC. It is resistant to acids, oxygen, water and ozone. It widely used in foundries (knock-out sand), cement industry, steel works, lime kilins and brickworks. 
• Oil resistant belt is generally nitrile based covers. It is resistant to oil and grease and used in conveyors working under these environments. The maximum working temperature is 90oC. It is resistant to acids, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbon. It widely used in glass works (oil impregnated glass waste) and fertilizer plants (complex treated fertilizer).
